At only 35 years of age, Blake Fitzpatrick has already proven himself over many years as an exceptional trainer and driver. Having been born into the harness racing industry, Blake has become a highly respected figure and is renowned for his horsemanship. Furthermore, he has become recognised as a master of the trotter with his main attribute being his rare skill as a blacksmith.
Blake grew up with his two biggest role models; his father Paul and Inter-Dominion king Brian Hancock, who between them won a dozen Harold Park Trainers’ Premierships. So it was no surprise to see Blake win the Harold Park Drivers’ premiership at the tender age of 18. Since driving his first winner in the early 2000’s, he is on the verge of driving nearly 2000 winners.
It wasn’t until some 10 years later he took out a trainer’s licence and he has prepared over 600 winners. Today, Blake is situated a stone’s throw away from harness racing headquarters, Tabcorp Park Menangle. Such is the level of his horsemanship, Blake is a dual-coded trainer, meaning he puts the bridle on standardbreds as well as thoroughbreds.
